Dispite my efforts to discuss issues with John Bishop and offer to assist the school in repairing damage to the hall ( 90% of which is not down to us ) it seems the John Bishop is not even going to talk to me and instead passes on messages of "NO!! and that is final"

Does he think I'm one of his kids ??
Come on John don't be scared, come and talk to me !!

I cannot see how we as a club could be anymore reasonable. We have offered to pay to remove the markes caused by our goals and ensure it does not happen in the future. We have offered to clean or repair the door behind the goal. We have offered to repair the barriers which is not our responsibility and we have offered to varnish the skirting around the hall.

So now I move onward to the Headteacher (Andrew Warren), The Citizen newspaper and Jane Moakes the sports development officer from the local county council.

Will keep you all posted.

Good to see you guys (and gals) are hanging in there. We have had similar problems at Southsea, and there were times we wanted to chuck it all in. Fortunately, club secretary Eddie Spencer was like a terrier and would not let go. He managed to get us the top sports centre in Portsmouth - a bit pricey but worth the fight.

Hope things get settled quickly.

National Division 1 next year?

Ok good point.

The future of the club is yet undecided. This is how it stands at the moment...
We have agreed with Tiddenfoot and Cedars that no matter what happens we are allowed to continue using hteir venue until the end of June.
They have issues between themselves which could effect our long term future but have promised me they will have discussed those by the end of Feb and have answers for us by then.

In the meantime, I have been having discussions with the Guttman Centre in Aylesbury to start up a Roller Hockey club there. They are keen to have us use their facilitys.

The club will not fold, yet, but which direction it goes in is unknown.

Who is Melcat ? Come talk to me about Vandyke and lets see if they have anything to offer.

OK. The club has until June. This is good news.
But on the other hand it could all go down the tube in June.
I had mentioned to Stef about enquiring for the use of Vandyke sports hall. I have been told its a little larger, all concrete walls, etc......
Maybe a new venue for the club if its available for hire. I think they hire out the astro turf pitches to clubs, might be the same for hall. Its all good money to the school.
I don't want this to sound negative but if in June they say enoughs enough, the club is in the same situation and face a new encounter with closer.
Just an idea if it happens again.
Anyway lets see what the future holds.

so it goes like this.

We have damaged the door. We will fix it.
We have damaged the skirting behind the goals. We could fix it.
The floor is marked by the goals going face down. It will not happen again.
The floor doesnt look as good as when it was first laid ?? WOT !!
It never will. This is their concern.

However we can stay until June.

A BIG THANK YOU!

...to Jacksons Dad for managing to buy us some more time and to Nath for all his time and effort! I know it's not over yet but this is the first step to keeping the club afloat, whether we remain at Tiddenfoot or not! Hopefully this time will allow us to find a solution of one sort or another and stop valuable players from drifting away while we sort out the situation.

Well done and if there's anything we can do, just let us know.

Stef (on behalf of the club)

Jacksons dad has spoken to the school this morning and has agreed with them to let us stay for the meantime. I will be having a meeting with them to resolve the issues. Things are back on track.

See you all next wednesday as normal then !!

Go for it. Like I said this is your club as well as mine so do whatever you feel you can to make a difference.

I have been told though that Tiddenfoot sports centre are getting rid of the barriers in the next week or so because with us gone they dont need them.

id say anything helps from now on in.

it can't hurt.

Michael Posted - 26/01/2005 : 15:09:16
I'll try to talk to the Head of Cedars. Maybe he'll talk to me, as a student there?
If it would help, do you want me to talk to the papers about how this affects my Duke of Edinburgh Award, which I'm undertaking through the school? And how roller hockey helps to loosen up my bad leg, an injury sustained at the school?

Hi Nath,

Have you given them a press release or just told them what the situation is??

Stef
