How can we do this? One thing I noticed at eastbourne on sunday was the abundance of inline manufacturers and suppliers selling there street hockey gear.

I think this is an important factor in how successfull street/inline skating is. Roller Hockey (on quads) has no profile apart from the exhibition matches held.

In my opinion, an imporant step in raising the profile of the sport, would be to attract the roller hockey kit manufacturers to events such as eastbourne, which in turn would help raise the profile of the sport in the UK. We must remember, out of sight, out of mind. At the moment, roller hockey in the uk is out of sight of the public eye.

What are other peoples views on this?

I think the biggest problem with Eastbourne is that there is no central arena where we could play. The Sovereign Center is not the best location, at one end of the site, and on sunny days, everyone wants to be outside.

Agreed on both points. This is something that Keith Allen, the new NRHA president, is very keen to do. Promotion is everything and not just that but apperance. Roller Hockey 'the old type of hockey' needs a face lift to become 'Cool' !!

This is where Stefs company could do so much with its fresh ideas and radical look. Street Hockey is only popular cause its cool to play. Not because its exciting, skillful and fast.

I am due to meet with Keith, Kos and Gordon after they return from taking the England U20's to the European Championships in Germany. So if anyone has any specific ideas, I can discuss them then.

Let me know.

1. Well, one easy thing to do would be to speak to some street hockey clubs and find out how they market themselves. they must be doing something we are not.

2. Another thing would be to speak to the major roller hockey gear manufacturers and find out why they don't push there kit in the uk skate market the same way alot of the american inline skate manufacturers do. It could simply be there is no 'official' uk distributor.

3. speak to inline manufacturers and find out why they dont produce kit for 'quad' roller hockey. is it simply they don't realise there is a market for it? Bring in cheaper kit by manufacturers the average 12-21 year old has heard of could make a difference.

Im sure there are loads more, lets hear more views!

I think a good start would be to contact MK Cobras Inline Hockey Club and see if they would be interested in organising a 1 day roller/inline hockey awareness day - they are a loacal club, and accosiating ourselves with inline hockey could be a start in improving our image.

We would also improve the awareness of inline skaters to roller hockey and vice versa.
