1. when do the senior 2 hour sessions start on a weds?
2. the B team need shooting practice - we have good defensive players, but no shooting confidence and/or ability
3. i prefer plying a vs b even though we are outclassed - this gives us a goal to reach.

I'm up for some shooting practice on Wednesday too.
I also think we need to keep the good balance that we have between skills training and match practice, as both are imprtant for all round good players.
The other thing we could all do with improving is stamina. Any ideas on how we can do this during training sessions? Chaz and me are going to take up runnng 1 night a week!

Ok, a few things about the sat session:
1. Get rid of saturday and you will have no intergration between junior and seniors
2. what about players like robert? not big enough to take part in the senior 2 hour session, so would now only be able to play 1 hour a week, and will not be able to progress as quickly.
3. Removing an hours training for any player is a bad way to market the sport. - when will new players get the match time to be able to progress to league level??
4. The saturday sessions are almost always full - i know clive said he didn't think that saturdays would pay for themselves - is he just basing his opinion on the fact that we had one quiet saturday?
5. When will mini league tournaments happen? or will the session take place on a weds, in which case is 1 hour junior training enough?
Lastly, do we even have the three hour session available on a weds? If you have not, then you don't even know if canceling saturdays is even an option.
Don;t mean to sound harsh, i just think cancelling saturdays would be a mistake as juniors will have nothing to aim for, and senior players that want to train more than 2 hours a week(which is not alot when we want to improve our teams fitness levels) will not have an oportunity.

thanks chaz for those coments speaking from experiance
1 you will find that in the summer holidays most familys have holidays or days out, this happened last summer when on most saturdays only a handfull of players attended
2 We are going to start this saturday 07/08/2004 "PAY TO PLAY" for a one month trial to see if it will pay for its self. Everyone will be informed on wednesday. We are asking a fee at the door of £2.50 to any one who wishes to attend juniors or seniors if you dont have the money stay away.
3 we will be speaking to chrisy today about extending wednesday from 2hr to 3hr (1hr juniors) (2hr seniors team a & b and robert) we will be asking about the bariers.

I think the one month trial is a good idea.
Can I make a suggestion?
pay as you play -
have a staggered charging structure.
I understand you said the hall hire is quite expensive - what is the actual cost? Cos the only was you can work out what to charge on the door, is to divide the cost of the hour by the predicted number of people coming to the session.
eg - on average you expect lets say, 10 - 12 people to come. Lets say the hall costs 50-00 for the hour. that means you need an average of 5-00 per head. I am sure you have looked through all the costing properly, and havnt just come up with a random figure, i am just interested at how you have come up with the cost of £2.50
cheers
Chaz
ps hope you get the barriers!!

iam not going to get in to how much the hall costs but it is no were near £50. lets just say that our last hall bill was £750 which we are about £100 short
the amount 2.50 ia a fair individual price to charge if you say the junior players would benefit from playing with some seniors it would then be the parents who fit the bill at the moment we have a few parents with 2 or more children who attend this would work out two expensive if the price is to high no one could aford it and sat would be no more

I think trialling the saturday pay as you play is a good idea (as agreed at the AGM) Although as you already mentioned we do need to bear in mind that it is peak holiday season and so were not going to get a true reflection of 'normal' numbers of players for a few weeks.
How much notice do the sports centre need for a cancellation? If during the summer we knew when we werent likely to get enough players due to holidays could we just cancel that week - like we did for eastbourne? Most people know in advance when they cant make it.
