I am currently pursuing the idea of having a couple of "friendly" tournaments during the 2004-05 season. My thought is that theer must be a number of players (such as myself) who belong to a club that is not entering a team in a league that is at their current playing ability. Southsea, for example, will be entering a teamn in National Div.1 - not for me, nor 3 or 4 other regulars at training.
So I am talking to the NRHA (Aileen Barker) about the feasibility of holding such tournaments. I think the level of play I am thinking of is about that of (or slightly lower than)the team you brought to Eastbourne.
If it comes off, are you interested?
My experience with Farnham RCH last year was that I think they lost players because they weren't good enough to play in any of the leagues the club entered, and nothing was arranged for them. Now that we hav emoved inside to train, Southsea is getting players coming back but not at a serious level. If we don't offer something to them in terms of tournaments, I think we will lose them
